Ladies and gentlemen, I have been selected to receive the Power of Schmooze Award! This honor is only given by others who have received it, and passed on to other deserving recipients. The Power of Schmooze award was created by Mike at Ordinary Folk and Danielle at Pink Reviews to help “recognize those people that were [are] exceptionally adept at creating relationships with other bloggers by making an effort to be part of a conversation, as opposed to monologue.”

The rules:
If, and only if, you get The Power of Schmooze Award, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think, or have schmoozed you into submission. Link to this post and Mike so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.

Optional:
Proudly display the ‘The Power of Schmooze Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.

This honor was given to me by Dan at Management by God.

I pass this award on to:

Just curious - did you mean that Beckwith’s contributions to moral and ethical issues are still relevant to Protestants? Or did you mean to say Christians? Is there any reason anything he’s written WOULDN’T still be relevant to all Christians.

Wondered if you knew that he’s been out there on the stump encouraging Catholics to explore the best Protestant apologists and theologians.

I know you ONLY were meaning to compliment, but often the most interesting thoughts are those lurking under the surface :)

    Ed,

I can’t think of how anything I have read that he has written regarding social issues does not fit into a Protestant worldview. Nothing I learned in the graduate course that I took from him a few years ago would differ now. We also spoke after he invited me to contact him regarding this post and I’m contemplating Baylor again after I finish up my M.Div.

In addition, I have no fears regarding the possibility of increased apologetic engagement between the two groups.

I left Catholicism many years ago, but unlike Dr. Beckwith, I have no plans of going back.

“Maybe becoming a Catholic wasn’t right and I question his reason for it, but his contributions to moral and ethical issues are still relevant to Christians.”

Are you implying that Catholics aren’t Christians in this statement?

Not at all. Just like not everyone who goes to a Christian church is a “Christian,” neither is everyone who goes to a Catholic church. As a group, though, I cannot say that all Catholics are Christians because, based upon my time in the Catholic church, not all of them are.

Just saw this post (I’m a little slow sometimes). Thank you for the honor! :-)
