Just curious - did you mean that Beckwith's contributions to moral and ethical issues are still relevant to Protestants? Or did you mean to say Christians? Is there any reason anything he's written WOULDN'T still be relevant to all Christians.

Wondered if you knew that he's been out there on the stump encouraging Catholics to explore the best Protestant apologists and theologians.

I know you ONLY were meaning to compliment, but often the most interesting thoughts are those lurking under the surface :)

Ed,

I can't think of how anything I have read that he has written regarding social issues does not fit into a Protestant worldview. Nothing I learned in the graduate course that I took from him a few years ago would differ now. We also spoke after he invited me to contact him regarding this post and I'm contemplating Baylor again after I finish up my M.Div.

In addition, I have no fears regarding the possibility of increased apologetic engagement between the two groups.

I left Catholicism many years ago, but unlike Dr. Beckwith, I have no plans of going back.

"Maybe becoming a Catholic wasn’t right and I question his reason for it, but his contributions to moral and ethical issues are still relevant to Christians."

Are you implying that Catholics aren't Christians in this statement?

Not at all. Just like not everyone who goes to a Christian church is a "Christian," neither is everyone who goes to a Catholic church. As a group, though, I cannot say that all Catholics are Christians because, based upon my time in the Catholic church, not all of them are.

Not at all. Just like not everyone who goes to a Christian church is a “Christian,” neither is everyone who goes to a Catholic church. As a group, though, I cannot say that all Catholics are Christians because, based upon my time in the Catholic church, not all of them are.
